Hope all is well from the landlubber of Ilkley.
Thanks, Arthur. All going well now we have the engine fixed! Carl
Observing from afar! Hope you are not too frazzled!
No. Although the Chief Secretary to the Treasury is, understandably, not too impressed at the rather large bill to replace an alternator, battery and split charging unit…
After that, as you can see from the rest of the Blog, things have gone pretty well, touch wood. It has certainly been hugely enjoyable.
Now at home. Funeral to attend, sadly, so boat parked in Ipswich for a few days. We set sail again on Thursday, if that’s OK by Poseidon…
Thanks so much for keeping an eye on me – I shall try not to disappoint!
It must be the season for funerals. Sadly, we were at one last week in Cardiff and now have another in Leeds on Thursday. I sympathise with your maintenance bill but as the co owner of two aeroplanes, I kind of know what you mean. Home for a few days on Friday then back up for the Grand Depart. Did a section of le tour today. I had hoped to get over to Whitby to see you but have, inevitably, been overtaken by events. Keep pointing north!
We are keeping up with your blog Carl. We wish you spr.ing tides and fair winds
Thanks Ben and Ethel. Looking forward to welcoming Keith aboard in Largs.
sounds like you are having a fantastic adventure so far and looking forward to joining in for a bit.
Is it best to aim to join you at Holyhead on Sunday (3) or leave it ’til Tuesday (4)?
best wishes
Brian
Good to hear from you, Brian. Suggest you leave it until Monday 4th August. We are still in Troon following a slight mishap and will be underway again tomorrow (see blog update later today), so it may be that we don’t actually arrive in Holyhead until the 4th. Will keep you posted.
As ever,
Carl
many thanks Carl. Caroline most disappointed at the delay in shipping me off! Have a sage passage.
Brian
Carl – due in to Holyhead station at 1921 today. Looking at the map and assuming the marina is somewhere near the yacht club, I should be with you by about 8 pm. If that’s too early I’ll find a pub!
looking forward to seeing you
Brian
Many congratulations Carl on the completion of an epic trip. Adventure, risks aplenty, an input of incompetent cargo masquerading as crew at Holyhead, consumption of a minor nation’s ration of bananas and red wine but above all a splendidly effective, convivial and generous Skipper/Owner. Enjoy your shore leave before the next adventure and give me a call if you need a wobble check guy who can make tea.
warmest regards and love to Sue and the family
Brian
Thank you very much, Brian. It was great fun all round but especially good having you aboard; we absolutely will set fire to some bananas again!
Love to Caroline.
As ever,
Carl
